How Pacific University Students Celebrated American Pharmacists Month

Pacific University celebrated American Pharmacists Month by raising awareness and spreading some cheer, both on and off campus. To kick off the month, students participated in #APhMSelfieDay and took a picture with a group of excited students and future practitioners (figure 2). Throughout the month, we had different patient care events in the community including DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, local and regional flu clinics, educational events, and patient screenings. One ongoing collaboration that we would like to highlight is between our APhA-ASP chapter and the Hillsboro Farmers Market. On October 5th, 19th, and 26th, different initiatives from our school went to the farmers market to provide glucose screenings, flu shots, and education on over the counter and prescription medications.  Along with each counseling/educational station, students also shared a flyer showcasing the different services pharmacists offer to highlight this year’s theme of, “Easy to Reach and Ready to Help” (Figure 1).  Lastly, to make sure all members of the pharmacy team are highlighted and recognized for their contributions to patient care, a flyer recognizing the role of pharmacy technicians was also shared on social media!
