Oregon State Pharmacy Association Annual Awards Criteria
The Oregon State Pharmacy Association annually honors the achievements of dedicated and deserving pharmacy professionals. Below is a comprehensive list, including criteria, for each award. To be eligible for an award, the nominee must not be a past recipient of that specific award but may have received past recognition in other areas. Bowl of Hygeia Award
(Sponsored by APhA Foundation and the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations)
Description
The Bowl of Hygeia, considered one of the most prestigious awards in the pharmacy profession, is awarded to a pharmacist who has made considerable contributions in terms of community service, possesses an outstanding record of civic leadership, and encourages other pharmacists to take an active role within their communities. The individual will have devoted their time, talent, and resources to a wide variety of interests, including service through their local, state and national pharmaceutical associations.
Criteria
- Registered pharmacist, licensed in the state of Oregon
- Current member of Oregon State Pharmacy Association
- Not currently serving, or served within the immediate past two years, as an officer of the Association
Pharmacist of the Year Award

Description
The Pharmacist of the Year Award is the highest award bestowed from the Association and recognizes a pharmacist who has extensively dedicated their services to the Oregon State Pharmacy Association and served as a leader within their local community and the state of Oregon. The individual will have made outstanding and lasting contributions to the advancement of the pharmacy profession.

Excellence in Innovation Award

Description
The Excellence in Innovation Award honors a pharmacist who has demonstrated significant innovation in their respective practice, method, or service resulting in improved patient care and/or advancement of the pharmacy profession.

Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award

Description
The Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award recognizes a pharmacist that displays individual excellence and has made outstanding contributions and service to the Oregon State Pharmacy Association and their surrounding communities. The recipient will have received their pharmacy degree within the last ten years.
Criteria
- Graduated with a Degree in Pharmacy in the last ten years
- Registered pharmacist, licensed in the state of Oregon
- Current member of the Oregon State Pharmacy Association
- Participates in national pharmacy associations, professional programs, and/or community service.
Oregon State Pharmacy Association Special Services Award

Description
The Oregon State Pharmacy Association Special Services Award recognizes a pharmacist who has made an extensive contribution to Oregon State Pharmacy Association and has shown dedication through commitment of time, energy, and special efforts to assist the Association.

Technician of the Year Award

Description
The Technician of the Year Award distinguishes an exemplary Certified Pharmacy Technician who has demonstrated dedication in advancing the pharmacy profession in methods beyond drug distribution. The individual will have showcased their enthusiasm for pharmacy knowledge and service by engaging with local and national pharmacy associations, volunteer organizations and legislative advocacy.

Oregon State Pharmacy Association Fellows Award

Description:
The OSPA Fellow Award was established to honor OSPA members for exemplary professional achievements in professional practice and outstanding service to the profession through contributions to the Association and other organizations.
Criteria:
Successful candidates must meet or exceed the following criteria in order to be eligible for Fellow status:
- Current member of the Oregon State Pharmacy Association with sustained membership in OSPA for at least seven (7) years (does not have to be consecutive years)
- Demonstrates active participation and service to OSPA activities at the state or regional level, or nationally, through APhA, for at least five (5) years (does not have to be consecutive years)
- Demonstrates sustained professional/practice commitment or contributions to excellence in pharmacy for at least ten (10) years following pharmacy licensure
- Contributes to the body of knowledge in pharmacy through educating practitioners, students, administrators, and/or the public
- Highly regarded by students, peers, other health care professionals, and/or members of the public.
- Not a current elected officer or employee of OSPA
