I became a member in 2014 because over my long career in pharmacy I know that it takes all of us working together to accomplish great things and advance the profession.  OSPA has worked tirelessly to advance the practice of pharmacy and help keep us viewed by most Americans as a very trusted profession.  I’ve been a part of community pharmacy since I was a child watching my Dad’s interaction with his patients at his pharmacy.  The same kind and caring pharmacists that I grew up around are still represented in our profession today. Our fellow pharmacists continue to ensure that we are part of the health care team and our continued advocacy has made that happen.  I am so pleased I have been able to be a part of a community of professionals who have spent their lives working together to take care of others. – Penny Reher, PharmD

I choose to support OSPA for a number of reasons.  The most basic (and probably obvious) is the chance to network with colleagues old and new through the numerous events made available throughout the year, with continuing education being a nice added perk.  It’s also a privilege to be represented by a group of motivated leaders who are passionate about promoting, advancing, and protecting the profession that means so much to us all.  Healthcare, and particularly pharmacy is at a point of such rapid evolution that losing a step at any time may be hard to recover from.  As clinicians and providers are pressured from multiple directions, both professional and financial, having an organized, capable leadership team helps to make sure that Pharmacy has a place at the table in crucial discussions over reimbursement, provider status, and patient safety to name just a few topics. – Gregg Wendland, RPh.

The Oregon State Pharmacy Association (OSPA) is a membership organization of professional pharmacists, technicians, students and others who have an active interest in the practice of pharmacy.

As an OSPA member, you are part of the development of new practice models that place less emphasis on distributing drugs and more emphasis on pharmacists in all practice settings serving as vital members of a healthcare team.
